Positives about Serbia…. It’s cheap…. It really is cheap….. Beer is cheep. There are others but I will have to have a think and list them later. Getting there was actually quite entertaining, the guys who work on the National Airline (JAT) are a true reflection of the service you can expect once you arrive. The fellar giving the “inflate from the tube” talk may-as-well said “if we land on water fuck you lot I am first out”. If you are ever going to be a little concerned about the plane it is one like those that JAT fly, jesus they are old. I think Tito himself must have flown in this as when it was built planes were still a rarity.
So Serbia for 2 days and 3 nights, to be more precise Bor. Bor is about 250K east of Belgrade and we got there, with our lugage in a Nisan Micra. We is not just me and Ivana, but also Millana, Victor and little sister Perunovic, Jovana. Still 5 adults and 60kilos of lugage in a Micra is still luxary compared to the Autobus.
Bor is polluted! If you ever think your town/city is just as polluted, then you are wrong. Copper smelting and Sulphuric Acid factories really are no friend of the environment. Add to that some of the oldest cars in Europe and put this all in a valley and you start to get the picture.
We did get out to the hills for a day, which was really nice as is seeing Ivana’s family, but I have to say I was glad to get back to where I can talk to people and order my own coffee. The irony is that I think the girls who run this Costa Coffee are from east Europe.
